In this episode of our segment on WMBF News, Greg McCollum and Halley Murrow discuss Civil Forfeiture in South Carolina.
Civil Forfeiture is primarily where the police usually stop a vehicle or are doing a search warrant, they find drug proceeds and/or money, and then they seize the money – they take the money on the site and it goes to the police department and ultimately is counted and deposited into their bank account. It’s been in the news some lately because a lot of people think that law enforcement should not be taking cash from people on the side of the road.
