If you’re looking to retain a lawyer to defend you on a case, then there are certain things that it would probably behoove you to ask them. For example, have they tried that kind of case? In other words, if your case is in the municipal court, whatever you’re charged with (whether it’s a shoplifting or something of that nature), has that lawyer or that law firm, the person that’s going to be representing you, have they actually had trials where people are found not guilty? Or have they plea bargained all their cases? People assume that all lawyers have tried cases, but that’s not true and you need to ask that question.
Another question would be: how many people are going to be working on my file? For example, at the Complete Legal Defense Team, we have people that are trained paralegals & lawyers – everyone has experience and has done this many times before.
And there are other questions you should ask as well, for example: What should you expect? What kind of outcome is likely? What are possible outcomes that your firm has gotten for people in the past? Those are questions that are very important and we would suggest that you ask those in the process of deciding who you would like to defend you.
