What is relevant conduct in federal court?

Relevant Conduct is the concept that a person can be held accountable and actually sentenced for conduct that is relevant to the crime that they were convicted of. So, in certain circumstances, a person could have a sentence enhanced or increased for conduct that the government deems relevant in the crime that they’re accused of committing or convicted of. It’s a concept that’s very wide-ranging and entire treatises have been written about it. Certainly, it’s a very important part of the Federal criminal justice system, and something that you and/or your lawyer need to been keenly aware of.
